Southport, CT - "Hungry: Eating, Road-Tripping, and Risking It All with the Greatest Chef in the World" (2019) is a personal account of Jeff Gordinier's global quest from the Yucatan Peninsula to the Arctic Circle with renowned chef René Redzepi in search of reinvention, inspiration, and connection (in addition to food).
The public is invited to meet Gordinier on Sunday, November 17, 2019, 4:00-6:00 p.m. The event will feature a lively conversation moderated by Sissy Biggers, longtime food and lifestyle television personality and Pequot Library supporter. In Sydney, they forage for sea rocket and sandpaper figs in suburban parks and on surf-lashed beaches. On a boat in the Arctic Circle, a lone fisherman guides them to what may or may not be his secret cache of the world’s finest sea urchins. And back in Copenhagen, the quiet canal-lined city where Redzepi started it all, he plans the resurrection of his restaurant on the unlikely site of a garbage-filled lot. Along the way, readers meet Redzepi’s merry band of friends and collaborators, including acclaimed chefs such as Danny Bowien, Kylie Kwong, Rosio Sánchez, David Chang, and Enrique Olvera.
Jeff Gordinier is the food and drinks editor of "Esquire" and a frequent contributor to "The New York Times." A product of Southern California and a graduate of Princeton University, he wrote 2008’s "X Saves the World" and co-edited the 2015 essay collection "Here She Comes Now." He lives north of New York City with his wife, Lauren Fonda, and his four children.
