Step OUT For The Brave 40,000-Step Virtual Challenge

Bridgeport, CT - Registration is now open for a new spin on a community tradition: Step OUT For The Brave 40,000 Step Virtual Challenge. Between Saturday, August 8 and Sunday August 16, join Homes for the Brave as they challenge our nation to take up to 40,000 steps for each of the 40,000 homeless Veterans across the United States.

For the past five years, our community has come together to climb stadium stairs in Bridgeport to raise funds and honor our brave service men and women. This year, due to COVID-19, Homes for the Brave is hosting a new virtual event, allowing participants to complete the step challenge at a location of their choice, wherever they may live.

“Participants don’t have to come to Bridgeport, CT and can take a few steps, a few thousand or take 40,000 steps over the course of nine days to honor the 40,000 homeless Veterans across our great country,” said Vince Santilli, CEO/Executive Director of ABRI/Homes for the Brave. “It’s easy to participate safely, and you’ll make a real difference to Veterans who desperately need our help.”

Since 2002, Homes for the Brave has helped nearly 1,400 homeless individuals, mostly Veterans, to secure income, find safe and affordable housing, and make meaningful contributions to our community.

Participants can join individually or as a group. The cost to register is just $40, which includes an event shirt and shipping fees. Shirts will also be available for pick up. To register visit: https://bit.ly/StepOUT

“Each step you take is a step towards helping a homeless Veteran return to independence,” said Santilli. “Our goal is to have event participants from each municipality in Connecticut and from all 50 states.”

A variety of high-profile sponsorship opportunities are currently available. For more information visit www.HomesForTheBrave.org or contact Elizabeth Gorenbergh at egorenbergh@homesforthebrave.org or (203) 338-0669.
