Blaine Langberg’s Zoom Book Launch set for Sept. 15

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Orthodontist by day, author and stand-up comedian by night, Blaine Langberg announces the release of his new award-winning novel, Journey of a JuBu. Blaine describes his book as “part pilgrimage, part romp, a blend of spiritual humor and meta-fiction…it’s Seinfeld meets The Celestine Prophecy.” The Ridgefield Library will host a virtual book launch via Zoom on Tuesday, September 15, at 7:00 pm, in conjunction with Books on the Common (https://booksonthecommon.com/).

The event will feature an interview conducted by writer and editor Tom Fiffer, Founder, Christmas Lake Creative, followed by a Q & A session. In addition, three attendees will win signed copies of Journey of a Jubu during a brief pop culture trivia contest. All are welcome to register for this free event at ridgefieldlibrary.org or call (203) 438-2282 to receive the Zoom link. Those who’d like a signed copy, should order directly from Books on the Common via phone (203) 431-9100 or e-mail info@booksonthecommon.com. Signed or unsigned copies of Journey of a Jubu ordered directly from the store can be picked up at Books on the Common (404 Main Street, Ridgefield) in-store, by curbside pick up, or customers can request shipment by USPS media mail.

A Harvard-trained orthodontist, Blaine and his wife have been Ridgefield residents for 17 years, where they’re raising three daughters. Many locals know him through his practice in town, but may not have realized Blaine spent his nights, for the last seven years, writing Journey of a JuBu. He compares writing his bookto a therapy of sorts and fun outlet, a way to communicate thoughts via his narrator and alter ego, Jacob Silverstein. The book is loosely based on Blaine’s own experience as it explores a ‘neurotic Jewish dentist trying to find his spiritual footing.’ He found that peers at Westport Writers’ Workshop connected to his work, encouraging him publish. Enter Journey of a JuBu. Blaine likens his book release to his risky hike on Mount Kilimanjaro, but is thrilled about its availability to the Ridgefield community and beyond.

Since its recent release, Jubu has earned both rave reviews and notable awards: it was the American Fiction Awards winner of both the “Visionary” and “Humor/Comedy/Satire” categories; earned a Readers’ Favorite 5-Star Review (https://readersfavorite.com/book-review/journey-of-a-jubu); was a Finalist in the National Indie Excellence Awards in the “Spirituality” category; and won Best Alternative Book Cover (June) from Aternative-Read.com.
