Award-Winning Stop Motion Animation Films - FREE 11/13

Bridgeport, CT - To celebrate the intersection of art and technology, the Housatonic Museum of Art will present the award-winning films ‘Lost & Found’ and ‘Two Balloons’, as well as several films about the making of stop motion animation movies. In the Oscar-shortlisted stop-motion animation film ‘Lost & Found,’ a knitted toy dinosaur must completely unravel itself in order to save the love of its life. With themes of sacrifice and loss, the film’s heart-warming emotionality is presented dialogue-free. Dubbed one of the most impressive stop motion animations of 2019, the film went on to win multiple awards and to become a 2019 Anime Award nominee.

In the award-winning stop-motion animation short ‘Two Balloons’, two adventurous lemurs navigate their dirigibles halfway around the world to a place where happenstance and fate threaten to disrupt their reunion. A film festival favorite, viewers will enjoy the exquisite attention to detail and the flip-book animation within this animation. Winner of the 2019 Best Animation: New Haven International Film Festival and 2019 Audience Favorite: FilmFest52.

Additionally, viewers will enjoy the films ‘How to Make Stop Motion Videos’, ‘Stop Motion Animator’ and ‘Head of Puppetry’ offering a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating world of stop motion animation.

All films are presented in connection with Housatonic Community College’s (HCC) 4th annual ‘STEAMfest’ virtual event and curated by the Connecticut Film Festival. Each year HCC presents an engaging program to celebrate advances in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. The Virtual STEAMfest 2020 series is presented with significant funding from Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company and Pitney Bowes.
