Branford, CT – Herman Bershtein of Hamden, CT will lace up his running sneakers on Sunday Morning as he prepares to run Branford Father’s Day Road Race, accompanied by his daughter and a number of his grandchildren. Bershtein, 95, will become one of the oldest to run a 5K race in Connecticut. Herman has run the Branford Road Race over 30 times.
The Branford Father’s Day Road Race is this Sunday, June 20th at Walsh Intermediate School. This year’s event features two 5K races, a 2-mile health walk and a half mile kids fun run. Over 1,200 are expected to compete in either a 5K, 2-mile health walk and kids half mile fun run. Two 5K races run at 7:00am and 9:00am. Following the 5Ks, a 2-mile health walk takes off at 11:00am and the kids half mile fun run starts at 11:05am. Participants can enjoy packaged food including popcorn from Lesser Evil, granola bars, fruit, and crackers.
The Branford Road Race annually supports a number of non-profit and local organizations. Proceeds from the 2021 event benefit Camp Rising Sun, Notre Dame High School, and the American Parkinson’s Disease Association – CT Chapter.
