Fairfield, CT: Sunday’s Faxon Law Fairfield Half Marathon features Hartford’s Everett Hackett and New Hartford’s Annmarie Tuxbury along with elite athletes from Kenya, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. The 5K race, taking place on Saturday anticipates nearly 1,000 runners and Sunday’s half marathon expects to have nearly 2,000 entrants. With nearly 3,000 expected in all running events, this will be the largest running race in Connecticut in over a year. The events begin at Jennings Beach in Fairfield and travel a scenic course along the Connecticut coastline and through some of the state’s most charming neighborhoods. Race day registration is available for both races.
Hackett has competed in the last 2 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and won the 2017 Faxon Law Fairfield ½ Marathon. Tuxbury won the 2017 Faxon Law Fairfield Half Marathon and ran in last year’s Olympic Marathon Trials. Hackett will be challenged by Rhode Island’s Andrew McCann. Kenya’s Monica Ngige is the ½ marathon favorite on the women’s side. Pennsylvania’s Anna Shields is also expected to finish near the top. Shields at one time was one of fastest high school milers ever in Connecticut. Marlborough’s William Sanders is the favorite in the 5K race.
Race organizers are thrilled to announce the return of the Post-Race Beach Party in 2021, with live music, food vendors, and a live awards ceremony! There will also be the return of bands and cheer groups along the racecourse to cheer on all of the runners. The Faxon Law Fairfield Road Race is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports a number of local charities each year.
The Fairfield Road Race’s title sponsor is the Faxon Law Group, and the event is hosted by the Fairfield Fire Fighters and Fire Department.
