SOUTHPORT, CT – Trinity Spiritual Center (TSC) will host an in-person conversation and livestream event with the globe-trotting writer, speaker, and activist, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, on Thursday, September 9th at 7:00 PM. Sadhvi will talk about her life journey from Hollywood to the Himalayas, as an illustration of how grace can enter and change our lives when we least expect it.
A highly revered spiritual leader whose public appearances attract thousands in India, Sadhvi leads a myriad of humanitarian programs worldwide. She is Secretary-General of Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, the world’s first alliance of religious leaders for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, launched by UNICEF in 2013; the President of Divine Shakti Foundation, a charitable organization bringing education and empowerment to women and children; and Director of the world-famous International Yoga Festival.
However, breaking the glass ceiling of Hinduism’s traditionally male culture, and becoming a spiritual leader was a most unlikely outcome of Sadhvi’s early life adventures. A data-driven social scientist who grew up among Hollywood’s elite, graduated from Stanford, and was finishing up her Ph.D. in psychology, she had no interest in spiritual pursuits. Underneath her glossy and glamorous upbringing, she carried dark secrets of sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, and bulimia. That all changed when she arrived with her husband in Rishikesh and was overwhelmed by a direct encounter with the divine.
Join Sadhvi and TSC Director Mark Grayson, as they explore the unusual series of events that led her out of some of the polluted pools of our Western culture into her spiritual awakening on the banks of the Ganga. The presentation is open to all. No affiliation with the church required, and while there is no charge for the participation in this event, registration is required (details are below). Copies of her memoir Hollywood to the Himalayas will be on sale at the in-person event. An author signing will follow the event. All proceeds will be donated to the Divine Shakti Foundation.
