Fairfield Holiday Shop & Stroll Details Announced

FAIRFIELD, CT — First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick is inviting the public to participate in Fairfield’s 9th Annual Holiday “Shop & Stroll” on Thursday, December 9. The event is co-sponsored by the Town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.

Participating shops in downtown Fairfield will offer extended hours and an assortment of complimentary seasonal refreshments to shoppers.  Traveling carolers will fill the air with holiday cheer.

The Town and Chamber are again partnering with @FairfieldMoms to make it a night not to be missed! The evening will kick off with Happy Hour beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Old Post Tavern, located at 1418 Post Road. There will be special discounts on food & drinks and free “Buy Local Fairfield” tote bags, while supplies last.

Fairfield Moms will also be sponsoring a festive after-party beginning at 8:00 p.m. at The Sinclair, in which there will be extended happy hour deals while shoppers enjoy music and fun.  The Sinclair is located within the Brick Walk at 1229 Post Road.

“I truly look forward to this event every year and I’m excited to see this year’s new additions to the program. It is a festive and fun night where we can come together once again to support our local businesses,” said First Selectwoman Kupchick.

This year’s event will again feature a 90-minute ice-sculpting demonstration beginning at 6:00 pm at Sherman Green by world-renowned ice carver Bill Covitz of Ice Matters.  Mr. Covitz will be exhibiting his considerable talents and skill carving a single block of ice into a holiday motif.  Additional ice sculptures will be on display at several downtown locations, courtesy of Sturges Ridge of Fairfield, Kleban Properties, Henry C. Reid & Son Jewelers, Massage Envy and Sacred Heart University.

This year’s Holiday Stroll will feature caroling by the Fairfield Ludlowe Choir/A Cappella group (Close Harmony) and the Fairfield Prep High School “Select” Choir.

Weary shoppers looking for a quick pick-me-up can swing by Sherman Green for free hot cocoa and s’mores courtesy of BE Chocolat and relax on lounge chairs by the fire furnished by Outdoor Design & Living.

Just across from the Sherman Green, Saugatuck Sweets and Café Piccolo will be open during the event serving waffles, coffee, cappuccino and espresso. In addition, shoppers can also enjoy a featured, seasonal beverage at J.B. Percival Co., located at 62 Unquowa Road. They will be serving up the Caribou, which is a warm, mulled red wine with origins in Quebec.

Featured retailers and participants as of press time include: Apricot Lane, BD Provisions, Capri, Ciao Bella, Element 50, Fairfield University Bookstore, Henry C.
