The Norwalk Art Space Presents Its Fall Semester Student Showcase

Norwalk, CT - The Norwalk Art Space is pleased to announce the opening of its Fall Semester Student Showcase on Thursday, December 16th, 2021. The exhibition will feature artwork created by TNAS students in after-school classes during the Fall 2021 semester. Classes were taught by Resident Artists Lorena Sferlazza (Express Yourself! Foundations in Acrylic Painting), Francisco Mandujano (Pop Culture Cues! Writing, Drawing, and Sculpture), and Emily Teall (Creating Sanctuary! Broad Sculpture and Drawing). Students received personalized art instruction in small group settings and gained hands-on experience with painting, writing, drawing, mixed media and/or sculpture. TNAS congratulates the students for their hard work this semester, and invites the public to be inspired by the creative projects that each student completed!

“Showcasing the students' artwork will highlight the great young talent in our area and give the students a strong sense of accomplishment. The students have created key portfolio pieces that can be used to apply to colleges and promote their art skills. Our goal is to help supplement the Norwalk School system with free art education that creates a more equitable and inclusive community,” said Duvian Montoya, Artistic and Educational Director.

The Student Showcase will be displayed in the student lounge gallery and will run concurrently with the American Iconography exhibition in the main gallery, featuring work by Korry Fellow Tara Blackwell and Cal Bocicault.

The Norwalk Art Space offers four free classes each semester for students aged 13-18. Each class meets once per week for 2 hours, and all supplies are included. TNAS welcomes any Norwalk student who has an interest in the arts to participate at no charge. Details of the Spring 2022 classes, which begin January 24th, will be available on TNAS' website December 6, 2021.
