Designer & Entrepreneur India Hicks at MoCA Westport, May 12

Westport, CT - MoCA [Museum of Contemporary Art] Westport announces a special event featuring designer, entrepreneur and humanitarian India Hicks on Thursday, May 12 from 5 - 7 PM. Daughter of the late famed interior designer David Hicks and goddaughter to Prince Charles, Hicks is known for her irreverent take on style.

Following a cocktail hour, India will sit down with CTC&G (Connecticut Cottages & Gardens) Editorial Director DJ Carey to speak about her most recent book, An Entertaining Story, and will share her slightly madcap spin on entertaining, tablescapes, and unforgettable family anecdotes.

Ticket price includes hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and a copy of India’s book, An Entertaining Story. Hicks will be available to sign books after the conversation. 

Guests will also get a sneak peek of Hick’s new collaboration with Tusting, a British luxury brand specializing in beautiful bags and leather goods designed and handcrafted in England. Selected bags from the limited collection will be available for purchase as part of the event.

The event will take place within the context of MoCA Westport’s current exhibition, Punk is Coming, a diverse group exhibition featuring over 50 photographers, filmmakers and artists whose work defined the punk era in the 1970’s in New York City, London, Los Angeles and other cities around the world. 

Tickets for the event are $100/person. The funds raised from the event will be used to support inspiring visual arts, performing arts and educational offerings for the community.

About India Hicks

Designer, entrepreneur, author, and mother of five, India Hicks was born in London, England. Her father was famed interior decorator David Hicks, and her mother is Lady Pamela Hicks, whose father was the last Viceroy of India. India has often made bold life choices, which have led to a multi-faceted, unexpected life journey. She has authored four design books, modeled for Ralph Lauren, among others, and been an on-air personality for networks ranging from Bravo to the BBC. She has had her hand in the design world for over two decades – from hotels to home collections. After closing her eponymous lifestyle brand, India now consults with fashion, home and lifestyle brands. India launched a Podcast series - a look into the life of her extraordinary mother Lady Pamela - recording wonderfully intimate conversations between mother and daughter. Living in the Bahamas for the past 25 years India was in the position to partner with the disaster relief agency 'Global Empowerment Mission' as an on the ground force, in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian and remains on their advisory board today. India also helped establish the Harbour Island Food Bank which provides sustained food security for those who lost their income as a result of the economic shutdown in The Bahamas. She continues her volunteering work for both organizations.
