FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Pet Pantry Warehouse, a family-owned and community-based pet supplies retailer for over 75 years, will once again host Fairfield Dog Days at 611 Old Post Road (Old Town Hall Green) on Sunday, June 25th between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. The event is in partnership with the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. This year's beneficiaries include Operation Hope Fairfield County (operationhopect.org), Adopt-a-Dog (adopt-a-dog.org), and Team Woofgang & Co (woofgangco.org).
Operation Hope provides individuals and families the opportunity to experience transformative change, envisioning everyone having a place to call home. The organization is also a beneficiary of Pet Pantry's "Donatable Dollars" campaign that launched during the pandemic and raises money for critical organizations in both Fairfield and Westchester Counties. The campaign is linked to the Pet Pantry monthly specials program.
Team Woofgang & Co is a non-profit organization committed to empowering adults with disabilities through vocation skill training, life-long learning, and social opportunities. "We couldn't be more excited to continue our relationship with Pet Pantry and are grateful to be chosen as a beneficiary this year," said Amiee Turner Executive Director for Team Woofgang. "Community building is a big part of what we do and we are thrilled to once again participate as both beneficiaries and vendors!"
Adopt-A-Dog is a limited-admission animal shelter whose mission is to save, socialize and secure loving homes for unwanted or abandoned dogs. "We are so happy and grateful to be picked as a charity for Fairfield Dog Days," said Courtney Bellew, Executive Director for Adopt A Dog Inc. She continued, "It's a wonderful event for the community with activities for kids and adults and allows Adopt-A-Dog to show off some of our adorable adoptables! We look forward to having a positive and fun day and hope to recruit some new foster families as well".
In addition to a Bone Bar and Ice Cream Pawlor, the event will include a scavenger hunt hosted by Rock, Paper Scissor Custom Events, Dog Lovers Lure Coursing, Sniffari, Doggie Beer Garden, Animal Communicator, and
Food Trucks. The Fairfield Police Department, including the K9 and Mobile Command Unit, Fairfield Fire Department Touch A Truck, along with a face painter and caricature artist, will also be in attendance. About Pet Pantry Warehouse
Pet Pantry Warehouse, is a community-based, family-owned, and operated pet supplies retailer. Products are carefully sourced to ensure quality and value. The history of the Pet Pantry began in 1945 with World War II Army Air Forces servicemen, Mort Davis, and Jac Cohen. The pair formed their alliance over a British puppy adopted by Davis while stationed in wartime England. After accomplishing a stateside transfer for the lucky pup, the two remained friends, joining forces in the pet food business. Davis passed away in the late ‘60s, but
Cohen soldiered on with their enterprise through 1995, when the business was purchased by Barry Jacobson and his sons Adam and Ari, who run the business today.
When the business was re-conceived in 1995, the large warehouse space which was home to the original Pet Pantry was converted into a more modern shopping experience and a new business model was born. The success of the reformatted business paved the way for additional locations. Today these locations include Rye, Larchmont, and Scarsdale in Westchester County (New York) and New Canaan, Wilton, Riverside, and Fairfield in Fairfield County (Connecticut).
Six out of the seven locations (Scarsdale, Rye, Riverside, Wilton, New Canaan, and Fairfield) have self-serve dog washrooms, and host “Clean your Paws for a Cause” fundraisers with local entities. Pet Pantry also feeds local K-9 Units free of charge in Fairfield and Westchester County and sponsors New Canaan Dog Days, Fairfield Dog Days (new), Puttin' on the Dog, and Howl & Prowl.
