Fairfield Yankees Rugby Club Holiday Bear Project

Fairfield, CT - The Fairfield Yankees Rugby Club participated in the Holiday Bear Project through the Connecticut Education Foundation for the second consecutive year. As a sponsor, the Fairfield Yankees was responsible for purchasing holiday gifts for 18 children. The children were ages 7-13, and their wish lists included Beyblades, Legos, action figures, footballs, winter sleds, backpacks, clothing, and more. The Yankees raised $1,800 to fund the gifts and personally went out shopping for all the gifts. On Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, the Fairfield Rugby Club came together for a holiday gift wrapping party. Youth players, parents, high school players, and men’s and women’s players came together to wrap the gifts at Grace O’ Malley’s Irish Pub at 1494 Post Rd., Fairfield, CT. Grace O’Malley’s generously offered their back room for the festivities and wrapping activities. Even though the pub just opened to the public, owners Derek and Laura are already giving back to the local community.

The Fairfield Rugby Club offers rugby to all levels including youth (U-10 to U-14), high school, men’s and women’s competitive teams (the Yankees), and social touch rugby.
