Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Fairfield Strength and Movement Center!

Three questions with Ken O'Toole owner of Fairfield Strength and Movement Center.

Why did I start my business?

I saw a gap in the Fitness industry. The current trend was to open group style fitness facilities that focused on a one size fits all approach. It seemed the industry was doing everything it could to take the "personal" out of personal training. My approach to fitness is to customize a workout based on the needs and goals of the client. Starting with a foundational training phase that teaches clients the concepts and basics of strength training and progressing them only when they have mastered the basics.

How many people do you employ?

I currently employ 5 trainers.

Best selling product or service?

Our best selling service is a training program of 2 sessions per week with a trainer, plus a "Day 3" workout for them to do on their own.

Fairfield Strength and Movement Center is located at 85 Mill Plain Road in Fairfield. Visit them online here.
