Jan Fisher Appointed Fairfield Acting Town Librarian

Fairfield, CT - Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Acting Town Librarian Nancy Coriaty announced today that Jan Fisher has been appointed by the Fairfield Public Library Board of Library Trustees to serve as Acting Town Librarian beginning Saturday, October 21, 2017. The appointment will remain in effect until a new Town Librarian is hired and starts in that role.

Current Acting Librarian Nancy Coriaty is retiring after ten years of service to the Fairfield Public Library. Ms. Coriaty’s last day is Friday, October 20, 2017.

The Board of Library Trustees made the unanimous decision at its October 12, 2017 meeting. The Board is currently conducting a national search for Town Librarian.

Nancy Coriaty stated, “What an amazing experience I’ve had in Fairfield for the last ten years. The outstanding staff, supportive town government, Library Boards and patrons who I’ve had the privilege to serve will remain as a wonderful part of my life’s journey.”

Jan Fisher said, “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this incredible library system through the interim period during the search for a new Town Librarian. We are very fortunate to have an extremely dedicated and hard-working staff at both our libraries who have kept the Fairfield Public Library in the forefront of library service. We are also grateful for our wonderful Friends of the Library who are with us every step of the way as we continue our commitment to provide the best library service possible for the residents of Fairfield.”

First Selectman Mike Tetreau commented, “On behalf of our entire Town, I want to thank Nancy Coriaty for her outstanding years of service to our library and wish her well in her retirement. I also want to congratulate Jan Fisher on her upcoming new role. The Town is very appreciative of Nancy and Jan for keeping our library as robust as ever during this time of transition. Our Town has been very fortunate to have high quality, deeply devoted individuals running our fine libraries.”

Board of Library Trustees Chair Sonal Rajan added, “The Fairfield Public Library and its patrons have been privileged to have Nancy Coriaty as part of the Library's administration. Nancy has brought much innovation to the Library through the creation of the Seed Library, the wildly popular Sewing Studio, Senior Literacy Society and Librarians on Loan. Nancy has also led the Children’s Department and her creativity, ideas and warmth have not only impacted all areas of the Library, but have touched the hearts and minds of Town residents of all ages. The Trustees wish Nancy the best in her retirement. We also congratulate Jan Fisher on her appointment, and feel the Library is in excellent hands as we continue to search for a new Town Librarian and the transition that will take place once that person is hired.”
