Three questions with Ryan Attar, founder of Dr. Ryan Attar - Naturopathic Physician.

What do you want the community to know? Are there ways for the community to help you and other local businesses to prosper?

I'm a Naturopathic Physician and Nutritionist practicing in Fairfield. It has never been a more important time to take care of your health. I believe you can still THRIVE despite a diagnosis of a chronic ailment. I know this because I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes 12 years ago but now have normal and non-diabetic blood sugars. Let me help you take control of your health and thrive. I also help with preventative medicine, running extensive lab work, nutrient markers, and food sensitivity testing. It is a better time than ever to start prioritizing your wellness. I give free 15 minute consults to any new patients via phone, zoom, or in person. Visit www.DrAttar.com for more info.

On this note, gyms are now reopening. Exercise is so important for our health, and essential to a strong immune system. Gyms have really suffered during COVID-19, being closed for so many months. So many gyms have been doing their best to post-workout videos and keep us active at home, and I am so thankful for this. My own gym Fit Club at the Fairfield Sportsplex did an amazing job with this. If you're looking for a new place to work out, this family-owned gym is the best in Fairfield! www.fitclubCT.com

Are you offering any new products or ways for customers to purchase your products or services that are popular during this crisis?

My office has been doing COVID-19 antibody testing. This is different from the nasal swab diagnostic test. This test can see if you have antibodies from a past infection. Many people were sick this winter before COVID-19 hit the news and curious if it might have been COVID-19. Since COVID-19 is new, we do not know the implications of positive antibodies, but with other viruses, antibodies can mean some immunity to future infections. We've tested over 60 patients for this. Our lab follows the FDA guidelines for antibody testing tests both IgG and IgM COVID-19 antibodies. The test we use appears to be very accurate with a specificity of 97.5% and a sensitivity of 95.6%. Meaning rates of false positives and false negatives are very low. More info about our testing here.

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines

We have reopened our doors to patients. We have all patients take proper precautions and wear masks. We space our patients out to minimize contact too. We are also using telemedicine, and scheduling appointments also via phone and zoom if they prefer. Our employees are also routinely tested for COVID-19 both antibodies and nasal swab diagnostic testing. Other services we offer include IV therapy (including high dose vitamin and antioxidants), infrared sauna, chiropractic, nutrition consults, PRP (plasma rich platelet) facial injections, holistic cardiology, and more.
