Fairfield to Conduct Virtual Meet on Southport Commty Connectivity Project

Fairfield, CT - The Town of Fairfield will conduct a virtual public meeting regarding the Southport Community Connectivity Project on Thursday October 22nd, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  The meeting will take place on Ring Central, which can be accessed via computer or phone at: https://meetings.ringcentral.com/j/8607601925

The purpose of the informational meeting is to provide an update on the project, to review preliminary design plans and to receive comments.  Preliminary design plans may be viewed at: https://blcompanies.sharefile.com/d-scc01df15b3e4c8ab

The project, which is being funded through a $360,000 State grant, is intended to enhance pedestrian facilities along sections of the Post Road (Route 1) from Exit 19 to approximately 300 feet west of Hulls Highway intersection in Southport.  The project is aimed at improving pedestrian safety while providing better connections to surrounding neighborhoods and businesses. The work is expected to include improvements to sidewalks, ramps, curbs, pedestrian signals, traffic calming bulb outs, pavement markings and other streetscape treatments.

The project is being managed by the Town’s Engineering Department with support from the Office of Community & Economic Development, and is being designed by BL Companies, which has offices in Meriden, CT. Following completion of design activities, work is slated to begin by the middle of next year.

It is recommended that meeting participants join via computer if at all possible since there will be maps and graphics, which may not display properly on smaller devices.  Participants need not install any programs to join the event; rather, participants should select the option to “join in this browser instead.”
