Town of Fairfield 2021 Commemorative Posters For Sale

Fairfield, CT – How does one turn the page on the year that we just experienced? By commissioning a local artist to create poster art featuring iconic local scenes in celebration of all that our community has to offer.

The Town of Fairfield is pleased to announce the availability of commemorative posters celebrating Summer 2021. The posters are the work of Paul Siegel, a Ridgefield-based artist. Paul’s art pays homage to the great 1930s poster artists who emphasized the simplicity of design with no unnecessary details. The style depends on color, light, and shadow to create vivid scenes.

After retiring as a Graphic and Industrial Designer, Paul needed a new creative outlet and decided to focus on the Art Deco style of the 1930s. Town scenes are a design challenge – how to create an expressive image in the simplest manner using nothing but shapes and color. Unlike his favorite predecessors who defined the style, Paul’s easel is a computer and state of the art digital graphics programs. “My greatest joy is having my posters hang in homes and making people realize the beauty of their hometown,” Paul said, The Town of Fairfield’s well known landmarks were an appealing challenge.”

The four scenes of Fairfield – Town Hall, the Burr Mansion, Southport Harbor and Penfield Beach -- can be seen today on street lamps in downtown Fairfield. The four color posters include a 24” x 36” poster with all four scenes and 16” x 20” posters of each individual scene. The four small posters can be purchased as set for a discount. The posters are available for purchase at https://www.experiencefairfieldct.org and at the following local retailers: Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road, (203) 255-7756; Vintage Garden, within the Brick Walk Promenade at 1189 Post Road, 203-292-5450; Fairfield Museum and History Center Gift Shop, 370 Beach Road, 203-259-1598, and Palooza 1636 Post Road, 203-255-3655.
