Fairfield, CT - When Chris Cipriano, Principal at Notre Dame High School, Fairfield, welcomed back the student body, he shared that this year’s theme would be a "Year of Kindness." Little did he know that 1,400 miles away a similar high school in LaPlace, Louisiana, would need kindness after their community was devastated by Hurricane Ida. After speaking with the Principal at St. Charles Catholic High School, Mr. Cipriano rallied the ND community to help spread the ND spirit and a whole lot of kindness to the families of LaPlace.
Mr. Cipriano shared, “I identified St. Charles because it reminded me so much of ND - a diverse Diocesan high school, in the suburbs, with almost 450 students. In my email, I offered our prayers and made an inquiry to see if the ND community could be of assistance. After hearing they could use our help, I replied with one more question: if we were able to collect and deliver supplies to their school, would they be able to receive and distribute them to their community? The answer was a quick yes. After reviewing the list of requested items, I recognized how great the need is in LaPlace. With a recognition of the need, our goal is now to drive a truckful of supplies from Fairfield to LaPlace early next week - as the need is immediate.”
Please help ND spread the word. They will be inviting area schools and parishes to join their efforts as they would love to send lots of help from Fairfield County. Together, the aim is to spread love and kindness from ND to a fellow Catholic high school community in much need.
