CRI Releases "State of Re-Entry" Report

Bridgeport, CT - For over two decades, Career Resources, Inc. (CRI) has continuously expanded its model to deliver personal development, career advancement and economic independence to those who need it most. A chronically misunderstood population, and one critically important to our workforce, is the justice-involved community.

CRI has partnered with the CT Department of Corrections (DOC) to create a groundbreaking, comprehensive study, appropriately titled “The State of Re-Entry Report.” This work is a point-in-time analysis on the demographic information of all those released from incarceration, and will provide the public with access to graphical, regional representations to highlight the many interesting and salient points of returning citizens.

"Successful reentry starts at the time of incarceration and this report helps our department prepare inmates for their eventual return to the community, said Angel Quiros, Connecticut's Commissioner of the Department of Correction. "This report will help reduce recidivism and target gaps in reentry."

Scheduled for publication on March 22nd, it will help to launch and promote April’s National Re-Entry Month, during which time CRI’s Bridgeport Re-Entry Welcome Center will open to the public.

“We are so excited to bring The State of Re-Entry Report to the public sphere of discussion," said Scott Wilderman, CEO of Career Resources, Inc. "This report allows us to understand the multiple challenges that returning citizens face with the hope that we will be able to align resources to promote success reintegration.”

Data provides a deeper understanding of how to characterize, validate, assess, and effectively determine the cause of problems. It allows us to be able to identify and visualize relationships that are happening in different locations, departments, and even systems. CRI believes the State of Re-Entry Report will drive advocates, policy makers and lawmakers to utilize the study as a template for positive system change.

To commemorate this report, a press conference will be held at 10:00am on March 22nd followed by a panel discussion at the State of Connecticut’s Legislative Office Building Room 1A.   For more information on this and other initiatives of CRI, visit www.careerresources.org .
