Fairfield, CT: Over 3,000 runners participated in the June 3 & 4 weekend races originating at Fairfield’s Jennings Beach. Participants came from two countries and 32 different states. There were over 500 participants from out of state.
Virginia’s Spencer Nousain won the Half Marathon with a time of 1:09:07. The first female finisher, New Haven’s Kidan Kidane, ran an impressive 1:15:07. Kidane has won a multitude of races this year and recently qualified for the Olympic trials at the Boston Marathon.
On Saturday, Fairfield’s Joseph Walewski was the first Fairfield resident to cross both 5K and Half Marathon finish lines. He finished 4th overall in the 5K with a time of 16:17 and 14th overall in the Half finishing in 1:13:48. The first Fairfield 5K female finisher was Michelle Cavanaugh in 24:33. Fairfield’s Quinn Igram was the 9th overall female finisher in the Half Marathon in 1:26:52.
Fairfield’s Matthew Epstein won the Lil’ Stags ½ Mile Kids Run in 2:49. Fairfield’s Madison Vendig was the first girl to finish for the second year in a row in 2:52, 12 seconds faster than her time last year!
The MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Race is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports numerous local charities each year. The event will raise nearly $100,000 for its charities. The Fairfield YMCA, Wakeman Boys and Girls Club, Ben’s Lighthouse, Hole in the Wall Gang, and Community Emergency Response Team are just a few of the organizations that receive thousands of dollars of annual support from the event.
The MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Race is hosted by the Fairfield Fire Fighters and Fire Department. Other race sponsors include Fairfield University, Little Pub, The Surfside Hotel, Connecticut Orthopaedics, Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, Avelo Airlines, O’Reilly Electric, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Green Farms Academy, Connecticut Post, UCAN, News 12 Connecticut, 95.9 The Fox, Star 99.9, and AMR.
