Why Creativity Matters made possible by LIFEWTR

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Fairfield? When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.

Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work and play in Fairfield. HamletHub’s “Why Creativity Matters” showcases these awesome local experiences.

Three questions with Ann Clark, Ph.D., retired Fairfield Superintendent of Schools and President of the Fairfield Foundation for Education.

Is there an organization in Fairfield that inspires you and makes you feel good?

The organization in Town that makes me feel good is the Fairfield Foundation for Education, because it awards grants to Fairfield Public School teachers to provide innovative, creative programs to their students.  The Foundation, which began in 2010, has awarded grants to promote exciting and creative instruction at all levels. Grants have enabled the purchase of drones, standing desks, butterfly gardens, robotics—the list is endless. Teachers feel encouraged when they receive financial support for their innovative ideas.

The Foundation also makes me feel good because of its Honor an Educator program. Parents and community members can (for a small donation to the Foundation) have a teacher recognized for his or her work with their child/children. Details can be found on the web site - FairfieldFFE.org.

Is there a person or organization using creativity to provoke change in Fairfield?

The Fairfield Foundation for Education uses creativity to provoke change by encouraging teachers to create innovative programs for their students, apply for funding to the Foundation, and if awarded a grant, implement a new approach to support their curricula. All grants are approved by the Central Office Administration to ensure that the integrity of the curricula is maintained. We believe that innovative programs engage students, promote learning, and provoke creativity.

When I think of creativity in Fairfield I think of…

I think of the excitement in classes generated by teachers who use innovative, creative programs and instructional methods to enrich the curricula, stimulate student learning, and promote creativity.
