Creativity Connects Fairfield
What fuels a vibrant, connected, and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Fairfield?
When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Fairfield.
Creativity connects us.
Meet David Green, Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County.
Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?
Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County (CAFC) is a membership coalition of close to 600 artists, and cultural organizations across coastal Fairfield County, from Greenwich to Shelton. All our members post their events on our FCBuzzEvents website, making us the best source of information on arts and culture events in the County. Then every Tuesday we send out for free an email, our E-Buzz, with our Top Picks of between 10-20 events we think you'll enjoy!
Where do you find inspiration and creativity?
I live in Fairfield and CAFC has its office in Norwalk. In Fairfield, my favorite spots (if I'm allowed to have favorites) are the Fairfield Museum and History Center, which is like the heartbeat of our town, with its public green, its historic buildings, and the museum building itself containing creative and informative exhibitions and wonderful programs for all members of the family. And then, Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts and its Art Museum are where to go for cutting-edge international performances and exhibitions. I feel lucky to be living here in Fairfield.
What do you love about your community?
I am British and, since I moved to the U.S., I have lived in Rhode Island, New York City and Washington DC, as well as my most recent 15 years in Fairfield. Fairfield is one of the more compassionate places I've lived, with a seeming level of intelligence and reasonableness about the inhabitants I have come across. I think its culture could be enriched and deepened through a more concerted effort to include and embrace more cultures than the one that I grew up in and feel most comfortable with. One thing I appreciate about Fairfield County is the diversity of the towns themselves - and it's good that Fairfield abuts the edgier Bridgeport and that I work in the more diverse Norwalk.
