Fairfield, CT: Over 3,000 runners participated in the 2023 MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Races held at Fairfield’s Jennings Beach on June 3 & 4. The event’s success was in large part due to a local Fairfield family—the Calandriello’s. Lieutenant Firefighter, John Calandriello, has served as the Race President for the past three years and does an incredible job at overseeing large scope projects as well as the day-to-day details that the role requires. Amy Calandriello, John’s wife, serves as the Water Station Director, managing 12 water stops and their volunteers along the half marathon & 5K courses. Madison Calandriello, a rising senior at Warde High School, not only recruits volunteers, but she also directs them to their locations on race day and is an invaluable point person on race day. Madison’s skills were so impressive, this year she was invited to serve on the Fairfield Road Race Board of Directors. She is the youngest board member by over 30 years! Lastly, Daniel Calandriello, a rising Sophomore at Warde High School, has joined the family by volunteering his time during race set up which is notoriously filled with heavy lifting and physical demanding labor. The Calandriello’s are deeply appreciated by all those who work to make the event a success and look forward to what the family will accomplish in 2024.
The MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Race is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports numerous local charities each year. The event will raise nearly $100,000 for its charities. The Fairfield YMCA, Wakeman Boys and Girls Club, Ben’s Lighthouse, Hole in the Wall Gang, and Community Emergency Response Team are just a few of the organizations that receive thousands of dollars of annual support from the event.
The MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Race is hosted by the Fairfield Fire Fighters and Fire Department. Other race sponsors include Fairfield University, Little Pub, The Surfside Hotel, Connecticut Orthopaedics, Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, Avelo Airlines, O’Reilly Electric, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Green Farms Academy, Connecticut Post, UCAN, News 12 Connecticut, 95.9 The Fox, Star 99.9, and AMR.
