SOUTHPORT, CT – Trinity Spiritual Center (TSC) will host an in-person conversation and livestream event, titled "Unlock the Power of Your Dreams", with award-winning author, teacher, and globe-trotting psychologist Catherine Shainberg, Ph.D. on Thursday, September 15that 7:00 PM.
Dr. Shainberg will show participants how to unlock and harness the power of our dreams and images based on practices from the Kabbalah – an ancient Jewish mystical tradition – and contemporary Western psychology. As attendees will discover, her methods for working with dreams and imagery – the tools of prophets and visionaries – enable us to tap into the subconscious to identify important ways we can transform our lives.
The techniques she will discuss and demonstrate are based upon an 800-year-old wisdom tradition known as the Kabbalah of Light that dates back to Rabbis Isaac the Blind of Provence, France and Jacob Ben Sheshet of Gerona, Spain. Dr. Shainberg studied and collaborated with their modern lineage holder, the revered kabbalist Colette Sheshet Aboulker-Muscat, for over twenty years while also mastering modern Western psychology. From this unique vantage point, Dr. Shainberg has adapted the Kabbalah of Light to meet contemporary needs and knowledge.
In keeping with tradition of Kabbalah of Light, our evening with Dr. Shainberg will be experiential, pure Kabbalah, which means “receiving”. Her work is based upon the premise of this tradition that the truth of who we are and what we want and need are revealed – received, actually – in our universal language – the language of dreams and images found in our subconscious.
She will show participants how to create a dialogue between the conscious mind and the ever-revealing subconscious in a way that can unleash our creative and transformative power. “To get to the truth of what we really want, we’re going to have to tap into the subconscious. It runs the show,” says Shainberg, “and yet most of us have no clue how to access this great power.”
All are welcome – there is no need to be Jewish, know Hebrew, or have faith of any kind to participate in this presentation. Dr. Shainberg’s methodology is accessible to everyone and is as powerful and clear as any scientific technique one might encounter.
“Catherine’s work offers a time-tested yet entirely new take on inner illumination,” says Mark Grayson, Director of TSC.“Kabbalists call this experience, which has many names across spiritual traditions, the ‘light of creation’. I look forward to talking with Catherine about how we all can find this light, regardless of what belief system we follow.”
An in-demand speaker, guest lecturer, and teacher, Dr. Shainberg has made highly acclaimed presentations about her own groundbreaking work with The School of Images as well as Kabbalah, dreaming, imagery, and the subconscious for organizations such as the International Association for the Study of Dreams, Esalen, The Open Center, the NYC Jewish Community Center, New York’s 92nd Street Y, Bodhi Tree, the Rubin Museum, the Deepak Chopra Center, and more.
Internationally, she has spoken extensively in cultural and academic institutions and conferences in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, including the Guggenheim (Venice, Italy), Waitah’a Air Gathering (New Zealand), the Transpersonal Psychology Institute (Melbourne, Australia), the London YPO, and the American Institute of Mental Imagery (Jerusalem, Israel). She has been a guest on numerous TV, cable, and radio shows in the US and internationally.
