"The Street Project" Film Screening & Speakers Panel at Fairfield Library, Jan. 19

Fairfield, CT - Join Fairfield Library for a screening of the powerful documentary The Street Project (thestreetproject.com), the inspiring story about global, citizen-led fight to make our streets safer. This event is free and open to the public.

Fairfield community members are invited to watch the family-friendly 52-minute documentary, The Street Project (2022) and participate in a community conversation with a panel of local and regional guest experts involved in safe streets advocacy across the State of Connecticut. The Street Project Documentary was produced and directed by CT native Jennifer Boyd, who has produced and directed more than 25 documentaries, nine of those films have won EMMY awards. Film screening is presented by the Fairfield Public Library, with special thanks to partners Stratfield Village Association (stratfieldvillageassociation.org) and Bird Scooters (bird.co). The film screening will be immediately followed by a panel of guests who will discuss the issues raised in the film. The panel includes Thomas Broderick (Livable communities advocate), Razul Branch (Community development and outreach specialist) and Kerri Ana Provost (Real Hartford blog) and William Hurley (Town of Fairfield Engineering Manager) and moderator Doug Hausladen (New Haven Coalition for Active Transportation).

Since the early 2000s, pedestrian and cyclist fatality rates have been steadily increasing throughout the US and around the world. Amid public health concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic, the year 2022 was one of the deadliest on record for fatalities involving motor vehicles and pedestrians and/or cyclists. This film explores the issues and choices behind this deadly phenomena and shares the story about the global, citizen-led fight to make our streets safer. After the film, local advocates and Town representatives will take part in a speakers panel with Q&A from the audience to discuss the issues raised in the film and how they pertain to communities in Connecticut.

The event will be held Thursday, January 19, from 6:30 - 8:00 PM.

(Inclement weather date: Thursday, January 26, same time and location).
