MJP Wealth Advisors Half Marathon Sold Out; Spots Remain for 5K & Kids Run

Fairfield, CT: The MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Half Marathon has reached its’ 2,000-runner limit.  There are still spots available for the 5K and Lil’ Stag Kid Fun Run.  About 3,000 runners are expected at this weekend’s MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Race. The 5K and Kids Run are this Saturday and the Half Marathon is on Sunday.  It will be the largest running event in Connecticut thus far in 2023!  Fairfield University presents the Lucas Challenge, inviting runners to conquer both the half marathon and 5K, totaling 16.2 miles during both days of the race weekend!

“We are overjoyed with the growth of the race this year,” said race president, Lt. John Calandriello. “The support from the town of Fairfield and surrounding towns has helped us donate millions to local worthy charities for over 40 years.”

New this year, the half marathon was selected to host the Connecticut Half Marathon State Championship. The  championship will draw Connecticut’s top distance runners and running clubs in the state to compete in the half marathon.  Last year’s winner, Marlborough’s Will Sanders, is a favorite to repeat.  Fairfield’s Joseph Walewski, who finished 2nd in last year’s race also returns and hopes to finish near the top.

Participants and spectators will enjoy a post-race beach party on both days of the event with food vendors, live music, and an awards ceremony! This year’s event features a raffle for a round-trip ticket voucher from Avelo Airlines. One winner will be selected on both days of the event!

The MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Race is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports numerous local charities each year. The Fairfield YMCA, Wakeman Boys and Girls Club, Ben’s Lighthouse, Hole in the Wall Gang, and Community Emergency Response Team are just a few of the organizations that receive thousands of dollars of annual support from the event.

The MJP Wealth Advisors Fairfield Road Race is hosted by the Fairfield Fire Fighters and Fire Department. Other race sponsors include Fairfield University, Little Pub, The Surfside Hotel, Connecticut Orthopaedics, Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, Avelo Airlines, O’Reilly Electric, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Green Farms Academy, Connecticut Post, UCAN, News 12 Connecticut, 95.9 The Fox, Star 99.9, and AMR.
