Town of Fairfield and The Pequot Running Club - Honoring Packer Wilbur

At the Pequot Running Club’s annual Clam Bake Wednesday, the Club honored the club’s founder Mr. E. Packer Wilbur. For the occasion, the Town of Fairfield’s First Selectwoman, Brenda Kupchick, issued a proclamation honoring Mr. Wilbur.  This included declaring Thanksgiving Week PACKER WILBUR WEEK  in Fairfield and during the Month of November Center Street in Southport will also be named  WILBUR WAY.

As a lifelong resident of Southport, he is a present or former Trustee or Director of The Pequot Library, Wakeman Memorial Boys & Girls Club, The Southport Conservancy, The Discovery Museum, and was the Chief Executive Officer of Southport Financial and its affiliates for twenty-five years and, before that, was a consultant with the firm of McKinsey & Company, an Executive with American Express Company and with Newberger, Loeb & Company. He is now retired.

Among his many accomplishments and contributions to the Town, he is the founder of the  Pequot Running Club which for nearly 50 years has provided a home for runners of all abilities and has organized and presented the annual Thanksgiving Day 5 Mile Run in Southport and in the process has raised over $1 million for charitable organizations in greater Fairfield including the Wakeman Memorial Boys & Girls Club, the Laddie Lawarence Scholarship Fund, Westport EMS, Fairfield Police Explorers and many more.

The Pequot Running Club and the Town of Fairfield are proud to honor Mr. Wilbur for his dedication and service to the Running Community and to the Town of Fairfield.
