SVA Presents $150K Check to Town of Fairfield

Fairfield, CT - Late Friday afternoon Sept. 9, SVA co-Presidents Dylan O'Connor and James McCusker and members of the Stratfield Village Association (SVA) board presented Town of Fairfield First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick, Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart and Town Engineer Bill Hurley with a check for $150,000 representing funds raised by the SVA for the Four Corners Project. The presentation took place at the Four Corners (the intersection of Stratfield Rd/Rt 59 and Fairfield Woods Rd).

The SVA has spearheaded this project -- a beautification and pedestrian safety project of the commercial center of the Stratfield neighborhood of Fairfield -- and has helped raise almost $1.4 million dollars to date. Recently, the project went out to bid to contractors and now the town is reviewing bids and next steps with hopes the project will break ground soon.

On a related note, on Saturday, September 10, the SVA is holding its annual Lincoln Parkpalooza event in the neighborhood around Lincoln Park on Jackman Ave. They will have 18 bands, 6 food trucks, 20+ vendors and other new elements such as a trolley to take folks from band to band and a Kids Zone in Lincoln Park with a kids entertainer performance. Almost 1,000 people attended last year's event. Additionally, they will be hosting a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Stratfield Firehouse at 1pm before the festival starts. Local and state officials have been invited to attend and speak. At 7:30pm on the main stage in Lincoln Park the delegation will also be invited on stage to recognize and thank them for their help and guidance with the Four Corners Project.
