Special Discounts & Programs for Homeschool Families Oct. 21 at Maritime Aquarium

NORWALK, CT  –  Homeschool families can take an exciting educational dive into the marine world through grade-appropriate programs and discounted admission on “Home School Day,” Friday, October 21, at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

"This focused day gives homeschool students the opportunity to participate in many of the award-winning, hands-on programs regularly presented to school groups by Aquarium educators,” said Ann Marie Lisi, the Aquarium’s Associate Director of Education. “In addition, students and their families can sign up to take a two-hour cruise aboard our research vessel and explore the rich marine life of Long Island Sound.”

Like our traditional programming, all 10 programs available on Home School Day support the Next Generation Science Standards. Selections include “Meet the Animals,” where students age 4 and up can discover live crabs and snails; “Shark Safari,” where students 7 and up can learn how sharks have adapted and survived for millions of years; and “Career Tours,” where kids 10 and older can visit behind-the-scenes Aquarium operations to find out what they need to do to work in a similar setting someday. We will also have our interactive educational space, Sea and Discover Zone, open for early learners along with two fishtail storytimes at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Space is limited, so advance registration is required by 5 p.m., October 19, 2022. Discounted admission for “Homeschool Day” is $14 for children (ages 3-12), $19 for adults, and $18 for seniors (65+). Families can add admission to the new 4D Halloween movie “Happy Family 4D” for $7 per person ($6 for members).
