Hey kids!! Are you ready to be entered in the Hall of Heroes? Are you prepared for the challenge? Of course you are! All you have to do is read some great books and visit the Library for some extra fun during the “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Program. Registration begins online or in person on June 1 at 9:00 am. Then, once school is out, the games, raffles and summer activities start.
The “Every Hero Has a Story” Reading Program has two parts: The Reading Challenge and The Summer (Reading) Missions, as follows...
The Reading Challenge requires online registration (www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org). Read anything you would like from June 17 to August 7, being sure to keep track of every minute on your summer reading account. Showcase your progress in our Hall of Heroes and earn prizes for every 200 minutes you read. Become a Super Hero after you’ve read 1,000 minutes – that’s just over 2 ½ hours a week. We know you’ve got the super powers to do that!
The Summer (Reading) Missions begin June 22. The missions are fun challenges and programs at both the Main and Fairfield Woods Branch Libraries. Earn stamps on your Raffle Tracker for everything you do including: visiting the Library, attending a program or special event, completing a mission and, of course, reading! These stamps help you earn raffle tickets toward weekly drawings for super prizes.
Join the Library for a Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Thursday, June 18 at 3:00 pm, dressed as a favorite super hero, if you’d like. At the party you can register for The Reading Challenge, play games and start reading! This is a drop-in program at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.
