Southport, CT – “St. Patrick's Day is an enchanted time - a day to begin transforming winter's dreams into summer's magic,” said Adrienne Cook. Kick off the St. Patrick’s Day celebration with an Irish Step Dancing Performance at Pequot Library on Saturday, March 11, 2016, from 10:45am – 11:45am. The Lenihan School of Irish Dance troupe visits for a costumed, spirited performance. After the display of traditional footwork and rhythms, the audience and children are invited to participate and learn basic steps and kicks. This will be fun for all ages! No registration is required and it is free and open to the public.
As one of the leading dance schools in New England and the New York area, Lenihan School of Irish Dance offers classes to girls and boys ages three and older, as well as adults. Many Lenihan dancers have achieved champion status at New England Regionals, North American Championships, European Nationals, Great Britain and All Ireland Championships. They have had the honor of qualifying for and medaling at the World Championships.
The Lenihan School of Irish Dance also has the distinction of having won 68 World Championship Medals in both solos and teams. Students of the Lenihan School of Irish Dance are recognized and praised throughout the state for their outstanding performances. They are featured performers at festivals, weddings, fundraisers, convalescent homes and a variety of other occasions. The Lenihan School has appeared on national and local television, and has performed with internationally known Irish talent such as Ronan Tynan, Black 47, Eileen Ivers, Searson, Stocktons Wing, The Elders, Cathie Ryan, Hal Roach, the New Haven Ballet and the Trinity Irish Dance Company.
