Flinders Lane Executive chef and co-owner, Chris Rendell, gleans inspiration from seasonal, fresh, and versatile ingredients, sourced locally. The menu takes inspiration from the multi-cultural makeup of modern day of Australia. Prawns, scallops and quality meats all live comfortably alongside dishes such as traditional curry laksa and chicken san choi bau, a popular Chinese dish Down Under. The carefully curated beverage program offers an international wine list showcasing wines from smaller producers from all over Australia. Cocktails are based on fresh, seasonal ingredients with a twist on classic cocktails. For the beer aficionado, there is a wide selection of draught beer, craft, and international beer from Australian producers and beyond.
There is an exciting, slightly edgy, loft-like vibe from the moment one walks through the door at Flinders Lane. The soaring ceilings, use of multiple industrial light fixtures and open space give evokes a hip downtown feel while paying homage to the history of Melbourne’s Flinders Lane. The décor, open space, and welcoming service offers a relaxed and embracing Australian vibe…it is the perfect setting for a date night, dinner with friends or a party venue.
With the holiday season around the corner, Flinders Lane is currently booking holiday parties, corporate happy hours, off-site catering, and of course…milestone events at the restaurant. ABOUT FLINDERS LANE
After working together at Public and Double Crown in NYC and discovering they had grown up in neighboring suburbs in Melbourne, Chris McPherson and Chef Chris Rendell oftentimes reminisced about the Australian dishes and cocktails they missed from home and wanted to introduce it to the States. McPherson’s experience as a front-of-house manager and beverage director combined with Rendell’s culinary background was the impetus of Flinders Lane. Named after the downtown Melbourne neighborhood famous for charming hidden laneways dotted with innovative restaurants, bars, cafes boutiques and art galleries, Flinders Lane serves up modern Australian cuisine peppered with Southeast Asian, British, and Mediterranean influences with locations in New York City and Stamford.
