FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Two Sacred Heart University professors recently published the second edition of their textbook, Role Development for the Nurse Practitioner.
Julie Stewart and Susan DeNisco, who are both professors in SHU’s College of Nursing, worked on this edition after the first one received a five-star review from Doody's Review Service, a clinical information database. Doody’s evaluates books across a wide range of clinical specialty areas in basic science, clinical medicine, nursing, allied health and other disciplines.
DeNisco and Stewart have been working together at SHU for more than 10 years and have collaborated on various projects and grants. “We realized there was a need for this textbook, as there currently was not one available to cover the topics needed for role development in nurse practitioner education,” explains Stewart about their most recent collaboration. “Instead, we would collect various articles in professional journals or chapters from a variety of textbooks for our students.”
