Tiger Woods Co-Author Armen Keteyian to Sign Books at Fairfield U Bookstore

Fairfield, CT - “Very few individuals are known throughout the world by one word,” write Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian in their revelatory new biography TIGER WOODS. “Tiger reached that exclusive club by being the greatest golfer—some would say the greatest athlete—in modern history. But his story transcends golf, and his influence reached around the globe.”

Until now, there has never been a 360-degree comprehensive account of Tiger’s life, one that closely examines his roots and the vital role his parents played in his epic rise, fall, and return. Benedict and Keteyian set out to deliver something fresh and revealing, a complete human portrait of a true, albeit reluctant, American idol. TIGER WOODS is that portrait.

On Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 2-4pm, part time Fairfielder Armen Keteyian will be signing copies of his newly publishedNY Times best selling book co-authored with Jeff Benedict, TIGER WOODSat the Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road, Downtown Fairfield, CT 06824 (203) 255-7756.  “[A] SEARING BIOGRAPHY OF GOLF’S MOST BLAZING TALENT.”

—Golf Magazine

“Tiger Woods was the kind of transcendent star that comes around about as often as Halley’s Comet. By almost any measure, he is the most talented golfer who ever lived,” the authors write. For fifteen years, from 1994 to 2009, “Woods was a human whirlwind of heart-stopping drama and entertainment, responsible for some of the most memorable moments in the history of televised sports.” Yet Tiger was also the most mysterious athlete of his time, an enigma obsessed with privacy who mastered the art of being invisible in plain sight, and much of his true family history and personal life remains shrouded in conditional interviews, carefully constructed press releases, mythical tales, half-truths, sophisticated advertising campaigns, and tabloid headlines.

Over a three-year period, Benedict and Keteyian conducted more than four hundred interviews with over 250 people from every corner of Tiger’s life, including scores of people who have never previously been interviewed. From those interviews, and extensive, carefully sourced research, they have uncovered new, intimate, and surprising details about the man behind the myth.

The portrait of Woods that emerges in TIGER WOODS is far more rewarding than revelations alone. By tracing his life from its origins as the mixed-race son of an attention-seeking father and the original Tiger Mom—who programmed him to be “the chosen one,” tasked with changing not just the game of golf but the world as well—the authors provide a wealth of new insight into the human being trapped inside his parents’ creation. Most of all, we are reminded, time and time again, of Woods’s singular greatness and the exhilaration we felt watching an athletic genius dominate his sport for nearly twenty years.
But at what cost? Benedict and Keteyian provide the answers in an extraordinary biography that is destined to become the defining book about an authentic American legend—and to linger in the minds of readers for years to come.

“If King Lear had been about golf, or if the great Russian novelists had turned their lens toward modern expectations and fame, toward the most American of fathers and sons, the result would be this book. The rise and fall of Tiger Woods in these pages is both mythic and poignantly small and human.”
