Town of Fairfield Completes Owen Fish Pond Clean-Up

Fairfield, CT- The Town of Fairfield Public Works department has just completed month-long work on cleaning up Owen Fish Pond.

“The sediment removal at Owen Fish Pond is something that was long overdue. We adjusted a couple of other projects and were able to schedule the work this June. Now that this project has been accomplished, it will improve the pond water quality and the aesthetics of the park. Early this year, improvements were also made to the comfort station (bathrooms), toddler playscape equipment added, and other miscellaneous park improvements were performed,” said Joseph Michelangelo, Director of Public Works.

Over 40 truckloads of debris and dirt were removed from the pond over a three-week period.

“With the baseball diamond, tennis court, playscape, American Legion Post and natural areas, the park truly offers something for everyone.  The proximity to the center of Stratfield makes this one of our most popular Town parks,” Mr. Michelangelo said.

As the 4th of July approaches -- with summer in full swing and baseball games almost a daily feature of the beautiful park -- Owen Fish is happy to welcome residents and guests. The park is also home to the proud parents of six baby ducklings who can be seen enjoying the newly cleaned pond.
