Sips, Sites & Bites Announces Dates for 2019 Boutique Tour to Sicily

Wilton, CT – Sips, Sites & Bites, a boutique tour company specializing in small group tours for wine and food lovers, will offer its second tour in Sicily on April 11-19th 2019. Founded by lifelong friends, both 100% Sicilian heritage, one is an experienced travel executive native to Sicily, the other is a wine educator and self-proclaimed foodie.

Fairfield County residents Gondy Somma and Jo LoGiurato say that Sips, Sites & Bites will offer a complete cultural immersion, from dining at Michelin-starred restaurants to private tours of some of Sicily’s most beloved wineries and historical sites. This is a small group tour for the enthusiastic, fun-loving, curious traveler interested in immersing themselves in the wine, food, architecture and history of Sicily. The trip is jammed-pack with unique experiences: Eat, Drink, Cook and See Sicily!

Gondy Somma, a Ridgefield resident with more than two decades in the luxury travel industry, feels that the personal touch is what will set Sips, Sites & Bites apart from the competition. “Limiting the size of the group to only 12 will allow everyone to have a personalized experience,” notes Gondy. “Unlike groups led by larger tour companies, our group will have greater access to smaller venues, assuring us more time with winemakers and chefs, and an opportunity to explore the entire island.”

Wilton resident and Certified Wine Educator Jo LoGiurato’s goal is to make Sicilian food and wine accessible to all. “We invite novices as well as experienced wine and food lovers to join us on this sensory journey,” adds Jo. “Our focus is on exemplary wineries, fabulous food destinations and hands-on cooking classes, peppered with stops to UNESCO World Heritage historical sites. We will unlock the secrets of Sicilian culture as we eat, drink and cook our way through Sicily!”

The tour of Sicily will be 9 days/8 nights. Highlights include:
• A guided tour of an award-winning winery in Vittoria, with its unique wine

cellar where natural wines are aged in amphorae.

  • A day trip to Mount Etna and a visit to award-winning wineries, peppered with discussions with vineyard managers and winemakers

  • A cooking class with the Executive Chef at our resort in Menfi, followed by an afternoon in Agrigento with a private tour of the Valley of the Temples Greek Ruins.

  • Lunch in an award-winning Michelin two-starred restaurant

  • Seaside, countryside and in-town four and five star hotel accommodations.
