New Winter Programs for Adults at Pequot Library

Southport, CT – Whether you are looking to excavate Egypt, join a book club, or learn about iPhone digital photography or how to get a better night’s sleep, Pequot Library has something for every interest this winter.

The Off the Wall Book Club will meet on December 12, January 9, and February 13, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the May Room. This monthly book club helps you gain a different perspective on the current exhibition. Read Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters in December, The Visitors by Sally Beauman in January, and Gutenberg’s Apprentice by Alix Christie in February. Visit pequotlibrary.org for more information about the books.

Learn about the rewarding volunteer opportunities in book sales, hospitality, library services, marketing, programming, and special collections at Pequot Library during the Prospective Volunteer Coffee on Tuesday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m.

Experience the exhibition Egyptomania: The Western Fascination with Egypt and hear one of the world’s foremost Egyptologists, Dr. Bob Brier, as he uncovers why we are so fascinated with ancient Egypt on Tuesday, January 8 at 7:00 p.m. Then on Tuesday, January 22 meet Pequot Library staff at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and enjoy a guided tour of its collection of Egyptian art from 12:00-3:00 p.m.

Discover how to sleep the night away with speaker Donna Brown, a clinical nutritionist, at a Wellness Wednesdays program on January 16 at 7:00 p.m. Uncover the power of iPhone digital photography at a three-session, once-a-week workshop led by iPhone photography expert Julie Stauffer. The first session is February 6 from 9:15-11:45 a.m.

Finally, you are invited to share your thoughts and ideas about programming at a community forum on either Tuesday, January 29 at 6:30 p.m. or Wednesday, February 6 at 10:30 a.m. Help Pequot Library develop its new strategic plan.
