Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Swim n' Surf of Fairfield!

Three questions with Kathryn Kirton and Kelly McGee, owners of Swim n' Surf.

Why did you start your business?

After working in retail through high school and college we decided after graduation to open our store in Fairfield. The town had the perfect coastal vibe with great beaches. After our first visit, we realized it was the perfect fit and started scouting out storefronts.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “We wish We could…”

We wish for many more years of building relationships within the community with other businesses and new and existing customers!

Best selling product/service?

From the beginning, our core has been beachwear but since expanding and launching Sweat last year, a curated selection of athleisure brands, it has opened up our business to a whole new customer. Today, leggings are worn daily, not just for the gym.

Swim n' Surf is located at 43 Unquowa Road in Fairfield. Visit them online here.
