Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT In the Mood Intimates!
Why did you start your business?
Karen Esposito, the owner of In the Mood Intimates, started her business 14 years ago online. One of the things that Karen loves about Fairfield is that she really can get everything she needs in town, except intimate apparel. Several years ago, Karen expanded into a brick and mortar store so that Fairfielders did not have to leave town for their intimate apparel needs. In the Mood Intimates opened in the Brick Walk (1215 Post Rd, next to Molto) 3 years ago and has expanded beyond intimates to pajamas, loungewear, hosiery, bridal, and many other items. In the Mood Intimates carries a large selection of bras in band sizes 30-46 and every undie and shapewear item imaginable. Chantelle, Marie Jo, Prima Donna, Wacoal, Natori, Hanky Panky, Commando, Ugg and PJ Salvage are just some of the brands in stock at In the Mood Intimates.
Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could…
The staff at In the Mood Intimates are professional bra fitters. My wish is that we could put every woman in the correct bra size. 90% of the customers that come into our shop for the first time are wearing the wrong size bra. Bra fitting at In the Mood Intimates is a service provided free to customers.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business and can you name them?
In the Mood Intimates carries a local lingerie brand, Summer Wildes whose designs are supportive and fashionable. The shop is always looking for new items that are locally sourced and they work with other small businesses to promote one another.
