Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Playhouse Gym!

Why did you start your business?

Ardys Persson is the owner of Playhouse Gym.  She spent 10 years as the owner of a dance school, where she took lessons as a child, in her hometown of Port Washington, New York. Now that her two teenage children are grown, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to run another children's facility that centers around fitness and fun!

What is your best selling product/service?

Although we offer multiple after-school programs in gymnastics, tumbling, and many other classes for ages 1-12, our best selling products are our one-of-a-kind, fun-filled birthday parties which include time in our gym, our inflatable room, and a private party room for families to celebrate with their friends.

How many people do you employ?

We have an amazing staff of 18 young women between the ages of 16-24, all of whom are students in either high school, college, or graduate programs.

Playhouse Gym tags Fairfield Pizza! "We work with Gil, Bernie, and their whole crew every single day and are so happy to be able to support each other as local business owners!"
