Fairfield CEO Makes Flu Shot Less Scary for Employees

Fairfield, CT - A small-business owner is taking an unorthodox approach to keep his downtown office healthy this winter. DJ Haddad, CEO of Haddad & Partners, Fairfield resident, and father of four, is encouraging his staffers to get immunized early as a preventative measure against the flu virus.

The 2019-2020 season is predicted to be moderate to severe. Naga Mulpuri, pharmacist and owner of Unity Pharmacy will administer the flu shots and answer any questions, Halloween eve, Oct. 30, 11am, 1326 Post Rd., Fairfield.

In the spirit of Halloween, agency staff will be dressed in costumes during their flu shots. In addition to receiving a bonus day off to be used at their discretion for wearing a Halloween costume during their flu shots, participating employees will be treated to lunch at a Fairfield restaurant.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health reported that at least 10,213 people came down with the flu last year and 78 deaths were linked to the illness.  The flu is easily spread through coughing, sneezing and by touching something such as common office equipment and then touching your nose or mouth.  While it may seem too early to talk about the flu, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in its most recent flu vaccination recommendations that “vaccination should occur before onset of influenza activity in the community” to ensure the best protection against the virus. For most, that means getting vaccinated by the end of October.
