Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

Three questions with Marc Cehovsky & Jeffrey Seganos, owners of Sea House Clambakes & Catering.

Why did you start your business?

Sea House Clambakes & Catering was formed for several reasons. 1. We really enjoy the work, we are really good at it, and the instant gratification/feedback we receive from our clients when they appreciate your service and the great food (lobsters) etc.  2. We are full-time school teachers at Fairfield Warde High School and we don't relax well so a mainly seasonal summer business as our own boss allows us to further provide for our families.

Best selling product/service?

We love what we do and it will be evident to anyone who experiences one of our Lobsterbake/Clambake or Raw bar events. We believe we produce the best affordable lobster/clambake available. All of our food is hand made. Our lobsters are from Maine, our clams, mussels and oysters are from local waters, our vegetables are from local farms throughout Connecticut.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business?

We use multiple local businesses including G&B shellfish, S&A Shellfish, The Lobster Store, and Roden Farm.
