SHU Hires Exec Director of Undergrad Admissions

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Sacred Heart University alumna Pam Pillo, who formerly served as executive director of graduate admissions, is returning to Sacred Heart to assume the role of executive director of undergraduate admissions.

With more than 10 years of professional experience in higher education and an extensive student recruitment background, Pillo, a Monroe resident, will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating admissions activities to advance SHU’s mission and enrollment goals.

As the former interim assistant dean of graduate programs at Fairfield University, Pillo managed  graduate recruitment and operations for the nationally and internationally accredited Charles F. Dolan School of Business.

While at Sacred Heart as executive director of graduate admissions, Pillo welcomed more than 1,000 new students each year and managed the marketing and recruitment process for graduate programs within the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology, College of Arts & Sciences, School of Communication, Media & the Arts and School of Computer Science & Engineering.

Regarding her goals for Sacred Heart, Pillo said, “This is a nationally ranked institution known for educational excellence. Our campus offers state-of-the-art facilities for living and learning, and the spirit of our community is alive with excitement, care and drive. I look forward to sharing the benefits of SHU with prospective students and using my experience in higher education enrollment management to support Sacred Heart during this time of growth.”

Pillo earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in management of sports industries and a master’s degree in business administration from SHU. She was also a four-year member of the University's women’s tennis team, leading it to the New England Open championship in 2005. After graduating, Pillo did not leave the tennis team behind—she later volunteered as the program's assistant coach.

Pillo was welcomed back Oct. 7. “I am extremely honored to join the dedicated team of enrollment professionals as we work to welcome new candidates,” she said.
