Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Second Floor Studio!

Three questions with Jessica Schiavo, owner of Second Floor Studio.

Why did you start your business?

I had been teaching art in NYC for many years and wanted to find something closer to home, so I could be closer to my own children in Fairfield. I have been an artist from the time I was small, and as a shy child, I always felt strengthened and centered by my art. I wanted to bring the children in Fairfield that same sense of strength, and Second Floor Studio has enabled me to do just that!

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could...

I wish I could have more time with my students!

Best selling product or service?

My best selling service is my small group lessons from toddlers to high school students. I meet students where they are in their individual ability and we grow from there!
