Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

Three questions with Scott Lipow, owner and founder of Fairfield Fierce.

The Fierce travel basketball program offers teams for boys in the 3rd through 12th grades and is based in Fairfield County, CT. Our players have come from all over Southern Connecticut, including: FairfieldBridgeportStratfordTrumbullEastonWestonWiltonRidgefieldWestportNorwalkNew CanaanDarienSheltonMonroeMilfordNaugatuckProspectOrangeNew HavenHamdenAnsonia and Woodbridge.

Why did you start your business?  

To use basketball as a vehicle for young adults to develop life skills.

What is your best selling product/service?  

We are geared toward the year-round player so every season is in high-demand for us:  winter, spring, summer and fall

How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community? 

We have between five and ten part-time basketball coaches.
