Woofgang Hires Exec Director and Expands

Fairfield, CT - Friends and family of Woofgang & Co. gathered in Bridgeport this week to celebrate the hiring of Erika Eng as the non-profit’s first Executive Director.  Formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Bridgeport’s Discovery Museum, Eng brings a wealth of experience to three-year-old Woofgang & Co., which provides free vocational training and job skills development to young adults with disabilities after high school.

“I’m delighted to join this amazing organization and so grateful for the opportunity to be part of this vital community resource,” said Eng.  “Woofgang & Co. offers valuable job training at no cost to young adults with disabilities in this area.  I’m eager to roll up my sleeves and get to work on these important programs and services that matter so much to so many.”

Eng was introduced to Woofgang & Co. Team Members and their families at the organization’s new “home” in Bridgeport on Wednesday night, January 22.  Successful fundraising efforts and strong community support have enabled the local non-profit to lease space at 2861 Fairfield Avenue in Black Rock.  It plans to renovate the property in the coming months to better meet the organization’s needs, resulting in new space to produce its signature handmade dog treats and fulfill online orders for Woofgang & Co. products.

“Our Team Members are energetic young adults with disabilities who continue to grow and learn through Woofgang & Co. programs,” said Board President Amy Stern. “Working with community leaders in Bridgeport, we hope our new location will enable us to serve them better and offer more meaningful ways for them to expand their skills and contribute to their community.”

Woofgang & Co. will continue to operate its retail store in downtown Fairfield at 1300 Post Rd. indefinitely. There, young adults with disabilities enhance their customer service skills, learn about inventory management and marketing, and raise awareness of the organization’s mission.

Woofgang & Co. was founded in 2017 by Stern and two co-founders, all mothers of young adults with disabilities.  They are working hard to fill an important need locally by providing free vocational skills training to young adults who yearn to grow and succeed after high school.
