Bridgeport, CT - Did you know that a local distillery is handcrafting spirits from locally sourced Connecticut non-GMO corn? Right here in FAIRFIELD County!
During this challenging time, as we look for ways to rally around and support our favorite local businesses, we want to spotlight a tremendous local producer in Bridgeport, CT: Fifth State Distillery.
Rob and Bridget Schulten opened the first craft distillery in Fairfield County since Prohibition in May 2016. Following their passion for creating high-quality spirits from local ingredients, the Fifth State product line is made from 100% Connecticut Non-GMO corn and are all Gluten-Free. Fifth State supports fourth-generation Connecticut farmers from Pleasant View Farms in Somers, CT, as part of the CT Grown community.
At their distillery, located at 259 Asylum St. in Bridgeport, they mash, ferment, distill, and bottle all of their Fifth State products. In addition to their award-winning Gin and Connecticut Maple Whiskey, the Schultens produce an incredible lineup, including Vodka, Ginger Zap Vodka, and the popular Bloody Mary favorite, Fifth State Simple Celery Vodka.
This week they are launching their Curbside Cocktail Kits! Bloody Marys with their unique Simply Celery Vodka, their signature Cranberry Mule with Ginger Zap Vodka and a G&T kit containing their Award-Winning Fifth State Gin! Available through their website.
Since the COVID-19 health crisis, the Schultens have converted most of their operation to make an Ethanol Handwash to supply the needs of the greater community along with local hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, government offices, and employees. The hand-wash is available at the distillery only.
Fifth State products are available for curbside pickup at 259 Asylum St in Bridgeport, from 10-3PM, Monday through Saturday. Please order on their website, www.fifthstatedistillery.com.
Additionally, Fifth State products are available through any Connecticut Package Store (just ask and the store owner can order from CDI!)
