Over the past several weeks, AFC has increased its capacity to provide COVID-19 testing and wants to make sure you are aware of your options. If you are experiencing upper respiratory symptoms consistent with those of COVID-19 (cough, fever, body aches, fatigue, recent loss of taste), they can perform a molecular test to determine if you have the virus. The results take 2-3 days to be returned. During that time, you will be asked to self-quarantine until they are able to verify if you have the virus. They also ask that you call ahead.
If you believe you had the virus and are now symptom-free, but your employer has asked for another test before you can return to work, please call their office about options.
AFC can also perform antibody testing. Antibodies are produced in response to the virus and can be detected in a simple blood test, with results in 2-3 days. If you believe you have had the virus but were unable to get confirmation, AFC recommends you wait at least 14 days before seeking the screening test since it will take that long for your body to produce the "IgG" antibodies that confirm you had the virus.
