Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT The Beach Effect!

Four questions with Carolanne Ghee, founder of The Beach Effect.

Why did you start your business?

I have been creating in one way or another my whole life! Back in the 90’s someone saw my art and asked about a commission. It just morphed into a business as I continued to create.

What is your best-selling product/service?

I sell a lot of big XO’s, palm trees, and beach words on canvas.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

PopShop Market at Fairfield Theatre Company, Las Vetas Lounge (for business and creative meetings!)

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I have always painted but, pivoted to a line of hand-painted, hand-sewn bags as well.

Carolanne would like to nominate La Soula Jewelry in Fairfield to be featured next!
