Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Redeeming Life Nutrition!

Three questions with Drew Mulvey, founder of Redeeming Life Nutrition.

Why did you start your business?

I graduated with a Master's Degree in Human Nutrition. I had once been plagued by several health conditions that lead me to spend most of my 20s in bed. I felt like my life had been robbed of me. It was not until I sought out alternative care, changed up my eating patterns. I engaged more actively in my spiritual life and I started to emerge into the healthy individual that I am today.

With the tools and the experiences I have learned from, I want to equip others to get their lives back, improve their performance, create healthy mindsets and get back to enjoying activities.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Last year I wrote up a 21 Day Whole Food Detox Jumpstart. I run this at the beginning of almost every season. From trying programs that involved drinking shakes to those with multiple supplements (and having a negative reaction to them) I realized that there had to be a better way.

Also, I believe in the power of whole food components to heal the body and thus can be an enjoyable processed including actual meals. Along with this, I offer meal prep tutorials with several different recipes that one can make at their convenience, group coaching sessions, and a WhatsApp group for sharing recipes and meals.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Yes. When I first started, I wanted to see everyone. I did not really have a niche. Then I took a step back to look at what my story was and where my heart was. I have now shifted my focus more on women, particularly active ones and athletes, to help improve their stamina, lose weight, balance their hormones, decrease symptoms of inflammation, improve gastrointestinal health and repair one’s relationship with food.

From my spiritual journey, I have gained a lot of wisdom. Now I offer a side of life coaching to my practice where I address one’s lifestyle habits. Health includes mind, body, and spirit and I strive to address each of these areas to create sustainable habits to recapture their health.
